Last spring we made the evening news by helping San Francisco’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) practice disaster assistance at their semi-annual citywide drill. Join us again for this fun and informative service activity.
Scouts play the role of disaster victims—presenting specific symptoms and behaviors—as adult trainees attempt to triage a disaster site, then participate in the debrief afterwards.
This event is open to Scouts who are at least 12 years old and Second Class rank or above. Scouts and Scouters only, no family members
In addition to helping play a crucial role in training volunteer relief workers to help in a major disaster, Scouts will have the opportunity to complete requirements 9d and 10a of the Emergency Preparedness merit badge (9d is one of the hardest to satisfy, but participants who complete the day will automatically fulfill it)
Scouts must be present for the entire drill to receive credit. No late arrivals or early departures allowed.
Wear clothes that can get dirty and your Class B t-shirt and hoodie.
Lunch will be provided.
This is not a Troop 333-organized event. Register directly with the organizer. If there is sufficient interest, We will ensure one Troop 333 Scouter is present (2-deep leadership is met by additional Scouters from other units)
