Here to Help
Scouting encourages young people to recognize the needs of others and take action accordingly.
We work with SF Rec & Parks, SF/Marin Food Bank, and other organizations as part of our commitment to serving our community.
Known for Service
Service is one of the most important values in Scouting, and a particular focus of Troop 333. The Scout Oath calls on Scouts to “help other people at all times.” The Scout Law reminds us that a Scout is “Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, and Kind”. These are perhaps the most important ideas a young person takes away from their time in our program.
Every rank advancement requires a minimum number of service hours. Most of our Scouts go over and above those requirements. Troop 333’s service commitments include:
Gardening with San Francisco Dept. of Recreation & Parks
Annual food drive for SF/Marin Food Bank
Memorial Day Flag Planting
District Camp Maintenance
Service to local Cub Scout Packs
Ocean Beach Cleanup
Special Community Projects
Do A Good Turn Daily
The Scout slogan, “Do a good turn daily” reminds us that small acts of kindness and consideration make us who we are and makes life more pleasant for those around us. It encourages Scouts to take notice of others and look at the world through a lens that asks, “how can I help?”
Although we have an active and established service program we welcome inquiries from community groups in need of assistance. We often have Scouts actively looking for service opportunities for their capstone Eagle Scout project. Please note that those projects have some specific qualifications.
If our existing commitments will preclude us from assisting you we will happily connect you with our District and Council offices, both of whom maintain an email list to promote service opportunities to Scout units.
