How to Tie a Bowline
Often referred to as the “King of Knots, the bowline forms a fixed loop at the end of a line. It can be used to fasten a mooring line to a ring or a post. Two bowlines can be linked together to join two ropes. Under load, it does not slip or bind, but can be untied easily when not under load. Once you master the traditional bowline, learn the Inuit version, and one-handed bowline, which is an essential rescue knot.
