Winter Camp Awareness (WCA) is a jam-packed informational training session hosted and taught by members of the Order of the Arrow. It will teach you how to camp safely and comfortably in frigid conditions.
Learn how to sleep warm, choose the proper tent and terrain, operate special stoves and fuel, select winter foods, perform winter first aid, and choose proper cold weather clothing. This training is essential to prepare Scouts for any winter-oriented events, including the Klondike Derby in February.
This district event has a fee of $18 per Scout.
Winter Camp Awareness Training is mandatory for all Scouts who want to participate in the Klondike Derby—the snow camping Camporee at Lake Tahoe in February.
