Join the security professionals at Okta for an exclusive, hands-on workshop to earn the new Cybersecurity merit badge!
Scouts will have the unique opportunity to learn from and interact with Okta's own cybersecurity experts about different career paths in the industry. They will dive into topics like cryptography, ethical hacking, and how to defend against cyber threats. This session is designed to be interactive and engaging, so come prepared to learn and participate!
Prerequisites + Requirements
This is a new badge, so Scouts may not complete all of the requirements on-site. However, all Scouts must complete the following requirements before the event:
Requirement 1a: With a parent or guardian's permission, view the "Digital Safety" video from the Personal Safety Awareness series.
Requirement 4e: Read an article about a recent cyber incident OR watch a movie/read a book about cybersecurity. Be prepared to discuss.
Troop 333 is not sending adult leaders for this event.
This is a event is offered by the district. Scouts may be dropped off and picked up. Appropriate adult supervision will be maintinaed.
What to Bring
Signed Blue Card
Make sure your Scoutmaster knows you intend to take this virtual merit badge class and has signed your Blue Card in Scoutbook.
Laptop or Tablet with Wi-Fi Capability.
A limited number of devices will be available. Bringing your own is highly encouraged to ensure you can participate in all the hands-on activities.
A signed copy of your BSA Activity Consent Form.
Proof of completion for the prerequisite requirements.

Okta is a Cybersecurity Company
All adults will be required to show a valid photo ID at the front desk to enter the Okta offices. Please allow a few extra minutes for check-in.
Getting There:
We recommend public transit. Okta’s offices are close to the Montgomery Street BART. Parking can be expensive during business hours.
