Citizenship in the World Merit Badge


Scouts who earn the Citizenship in the World merit badge will discover that they are already a citizen of the world. How good a citizen each person is depends on his willingness to understand and appreciate the values, traditions, and concerns of people in other countries.

Dates
May 12, 2026: 6:30pm–8:30pm
May 19, 2026: 6:30pm–8:30pm

You must attend both classes to complete.
Note that these time conflict with our regular troop meetings.

Fee: $10

Prerequisites
Minimum age 12. Read over the class information document on this page and make sure you are willing to do the work before signing up. Requirements 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 are due prior to the first class. Please see how to fulfill the prerequisites by clicking the “Prerequisite Requirements” link.

  • How one becomes a citizen

  • US Rights and Duties

  • International Law vs. National Law

  • Interpol

  • WHO

  • What is a constitution

  • Major types of governments

  • Head of Government vs. Head of State

  • Where US citizen can get help abroad

  • Visas vs Passports


A parent or guardian should be in the room with the Scout to audit the zoom meeting.

Signed Blue Card
Scouts should not be taking merit badge classes without their Scoutmaster's knowledge. Please make sure your Scoutmaster knows you intend to take this virtual merit badge class and has signed your Blue Card in Scoutbook.
