Every two years, Troop 333 offers this epic, 20-mile day hike. Starting at the San Francisco Ferry Building, we’ll hike along the historic waterfront, Aquatic Park, and Crissy Field to the Golden Gate Bridge. After walking across the bridge, we’ll veer west, taking the Coastal Trail, up Hawk Hill, and out to Point Bonita Lighthouse. At the 12.5 mile mark we’ll have a little lunch, then hike past a Nike Missile Site, over the Baker-Barry and Robin Williams tunnels, before descending into Sausalito to catch the ferry past Alcatraz and back to San Francisco.
Check the weather and pack appropriately. We should be able to refill water at the half way point.
Scouts should leave phones and other devices at home. Adult leaders will send a group text confirming we made the ferry.
