2026 Pride Parade

Every year, Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts show their support for inclusive Scouting by walking in the Family & Community section of the SF Pride Parade.

Last year was our first time participating in the event, and it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. We carried our troop flags, which placed us at the front of the Scouts for Equality contingent. The group was comprised of about 60 Scouts and Scouters from Cub Scouts to retired Scoutmasters.

It’s important to remember that Scouting was not always as inclusive as it is today, and to reflect on how past policies and current pressures affect our fellow Scouts. One onlooker told us—in tears—about being kicked out of Scouts as a Star Scout after coming out to his troop; many more were (pleasantly) surprised to learn that Scouting now welcomes everyone who wishes to pursue a life of leadership, service, and adventure.
