Annual SF Adventure

Saturday, May 31
08:00 – 16:00
Lakeside Landing

An annual Troop 333 tradition. Scouts compete in teams in an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt and skills competition to uncover the hidden secrets of San Francisco.

Each destination has a skills challenge and a clue to the next location. Scouts navigate on foot or using public transportation.

This event is now open to all troops in our district.

Details & FAQ

Teams
Teams are comprised of 4-6 Scouts, ideally from the same patrol. If you want to create a team by combining patrols that’s fine too, as long as that’s ok with your SPL.

Safety & Getting Around
Teams navigate the city on foot or using public transportation. Each team is accompanied by a registered adult for safety. Adults do not assist Scouts with transportation or challenges.

What to Wear
Wear your Class B uniform

What to Pack
Light backpack
Lunch/snacks to eat on the go
Water
Extra layers
Sun protection (hat/sunscreen)

Challenge Stations
There will be several challenge check points set up around the city. Some challenges require Scoutcraft skills, some reveal hidden secrets of the city, some are just for fun. All require teamwork. Stations are supervised by adult leaders and OA volunteers.

Event Rules

  1. Have Fun!

  2. Walking, Running, and Muni are your ONLY forms of transportation.

  3. You may not use BART, bikes, skateboards, roller blades, hoverboards, etc.

  4. Don’t even think of calling an Uber or Waymo

  5. Follow the clues given to get to each location

  6. Complete each event to get your next clue. Unless specified otherwise, every Scout must participate in every event.

  7. You must stay with your patrol and the your adult leader assigned to your patrol. You may not leave anyone behind—including your adult leader. If that means you miss a bus, you miss a bus.

  8. The adult leader joining each patrol has three basic roles: 1. to keep you safe, 2. to help ensure everyone participates, 3. to take photos of the adventure.

  9. The adult leader may not help you accomplish any of the events—either directly or indirectly through hints.

  10. Don’t Litter! Keep all clues, materials, envelopes etc. to dispose of properly.

  11. Did we say have fun? We did. But it’s worth saying again. Have fun!

Parent Volunteers

Parent volunteers: In addition to water, sun protection, and a snack, you may want to bring a camping chair and a book to pass the time.

If you are a Patrol/Team chaperone you will need a Clipper Card to accompany your team on public transportation (kids ride free).

To help Scouts identify you, please ask your Scout if you can wear their troop neckerchief for the day.
